poi solla porom – review
Two reasons why I decided to go to this film: 1) It has lot of comic scenes, as comedy films always appeals to me 2) One of my favorite actor Mouli plays a major part in this film.

The story of this film goes as follows: Sathyanathan(Nedumudi Venu) buys a land in Velachery ,only to be fooled by the real estate businessman Baby(Naaser) and the broker Vijayakumar(Haneefa). From then on it’s about how his sons Uppilinathan(Arvind) and Vishwanathan(Newcomer Umar) fools the Baby and gets the money back with the help of Ali(Baaski) and the drama troop ran by Mouli.
The moments I loved in this film are: when Vishwanathan gets the help of goondas who comes to their home and showing the photos taken wherever they destroyed a building, with the head of that gang saying ‘Terror na summava’ while showing them. When the fishery department officials come to investigate about their land, which is being used by Mouli troop to fool Baby, how the assistant of Mouli gets rid of them from that place is pure fun.
And as far as performance is concerned Naaser played his part as a greedy real estate businessman very well. Aravind does a neat job as a Youngman willing to go to America, but after his father was fooled, stays back to help his father. Umar as his brother does well as a short tempered person. Nedumudi Veenu does well but the voice of Rajesh is such that it’s like Rajesh who was acting there. Mouli, my favorite actor, was once again at his comical best. Heroine Pia was cute and done her part well. Haneefa, Baaski and Rowdy gang rendered a neat performance to keep us entertained.
The biggest let down of this film is its music. The background score is so wayward, at times its like watching a horror movie. Cinematographer Arvind Krishna was as always brilliant. Director Vijay must be appreciated for remaking the film that’s suitable for Tamil audience and dealing the hot and happening real estate business.
A thing I liked in this film is there is no nonsense romance and duets which is not needed for this film. To my surprise there is no songs in this film, except a two songs played at the background.
My Punch: A sweet and comical lie.
Note: This review is not a complete one as I missed the first 10 minutes of film 😀 .
