First yaar, first

December 15, 2008

The whole members in Vijayan’s home were in joy. There was hurry all over his home. It’s like a festival in his home. Vijayan’s mom has prepared sweets to distribute to all their relatives and neighbours. Relatives are coming from far off places to join the Vijayan family are they are going to start by that evening. “Shall we book a 36 seater bus, dad?” asked Krishna, Vijayan’s brother to his father Kathiravan. “How it will be enough? I think more than 50 relatives will come. So better book a 54 seater, so that we can adjust.” Krishna got his father’s suggestion and started to move out of the home to go the travels office. As he was moving out, Usha, his sister asked him, “Did you called up our uncle?” “No, no, not yet” said Krishna and asked herself to call him as he was going out. She called him up and asked “When are you reaching here? We are planning to start from here within 5 hours.”

“I will be there in another 2 hours” replied their uncle.

“Is aunt and my little sweet boy Harish are coming?” asked Usha.

“Yes Usha, they are with me”

“Ok. Come soon” said Usha and hanged up the phone.

Like this they have called all their close relatives and made sure that they will be there at time. Krishna entered home after booking the bus.

His father asked, “When the bus will arrive here?”

“It will be here by evening 8 and we will be leaving from here by 9, dad” replied Krishna.

“When will we reach there?”

“By morning 5 or 6, we will be there.”

“That’s good. So that we all could refresh before attending the function”  said his father and went to take care of other works to start.

“Did you start preparing dinner for all?” asked Kathiravan to his wife. “Yes” said his wife and continued with her preparation. All their relatives were reached the home as early by 7. All of them had the dinner and dressed up well. Everybody started to move into the bus and atlast Kathiravan’s family got into the bus. “Make sure everybody were in the bus”, said Kathiravan to Krishna. After making sure nobody were missed out bus started to move slowly out of their village.

“Where are you all going?” asked the tea shop owner Alagu to Kathiravan as the bus was passed by his shop. “Tomorrow my son is going to get the degree. To see that only we are all going” said Kathiravan to him. Alagu happily waved his hand at the bus.

Krishna called Vijayan to tell about their coming to the function.

“We are all started from here Vijay. We will be in college by sharp 9.”

“Ok. How many are coming with you?”

“Around 60 are with me.”

Vijayan got shocked by the number and asked Krishna, “Are you kidding?”

“Why should I kid? Everybody was eager to see you get the degree as you are the first one to do so in our family.” Vijayan was happy to hear that as he was going to see his relatives after a long time.

“Ok. I will be waiting for you all here.”

“Will you come back with us after the function?”

“No” said Vijayan and continued, “I have some work here.”

“Ok. We will meet tomorrow” said Krishna and turned to his father and said, “Vijay is not coming with us after the function.”

“Ok. Then cancel the band troop we have arranged for tomorrow” said his dad to him. He nodded and everybody continued their journey with excitement about next day’s conocation function.

And some voices heard are: “Tomorrow Vijay will be wearing a red coat and will receive the degree.”                                                                                                                       “We must applaud when Vijay goes to the stage”                                                             “You also must study well like Vijay brother”…….

    kanagu: Thanks Sahaja 🙂
But there won’t be any continuation.. 😦 I just want to express how all the members in a village react when somebody in their family gets a degree for first time. I am sorry that for this abrupt end.
