So friends, Its story time again. I am back with a story after many months. Hope you will enjoy it. Please let me know your comments.

With his shirt tugged out and looking furiously, Rohit came along with his colleague Vijay to have a smoke as he was tensed. He was already telling Vijay about the latest conversation he had with an unknown person. The conversation went like this, Rohit was almost yelling…

Vijay:   “So you are going to resign your job??”

Rohit:   “Yes, of course. What is the need of sticking to a job which doesn’t have any kind of self-respect for us?”

Vijay:   “But you already know about that. Our job demands that. We can’t escape from those such things in this kind of job. We are getting paid for that!”, said Vijay.

Rohit:   “I don’t need a job which pays me for getting earful. There are numerous ways to earn money. You know the guy who spoke with me today, talked like I have made the cell phone towers in this city. He was asking the reason for the frequent network cut during the calls while traveling. I said that I am a customer care guy and it’s nothing to do with my role and I will transfer this call to technical section. But he won’t leave me. He kept on reiterating that he needs a solution. What can I do?? Even my lover never scolded me like that. If at all I am not as a customer care person, I would have killed him.”

Now  Rohit’s mobile rings and he was on call for 5 minutes. Now he is confused on what to do. Again his mobile rings and now he talks for 15 minutes. Now he has given a more determined look and started to tug in his shirts and puts a mentos in his mouth and moved in. Vijay was puzzled to see this and started to move in as Rohit has said, “Common.. let’s go and start working.” They were both walking now and Vijay asked “What happened da?”

“First call, my friend has called me and said he is finding it really difficult to find a job, and asked me not to give up my job for any reason. Another thing he has said to me was, he tried in our company and he couldn’t get the job”, said Rohit without a breath. Then continued, “Then my lover has called me and said in her home they are looking for a bridegroom and it’s time to speak with her father about our marriage. I argued that I am going to leave this job and will take time to find another, but she is protesting,” as he tries to continue a call comes to his desk and he says “Hello this is Rohit from Celltron. How can I help you Sir?” in as polite as ever manner.

1st things that came to my mind is the numerous times when I shout on a
    customer care exec.

    these exec in future 🙂

This is life, Kanagu! We cannot swim against the tide, you know. Otherwise we have to be ready to take bold decisions in life and stick to it, which is not very easy.

    The dialogues are good, Kanagu.

kanagu: True.. we can’t swim Against them… very few takes bold decisions and gets rewarded 🙂
    thank you 🙂

as he tries to continue a call comes to his desk and he says “Hello this is Rohit from Celltron. How can I help you Sir?” in as polite as ever manner.

Its all about that ast line isnt it Kanagu?

me: yes Indyeah.. true… its all about that 🙂

We want to rebel, we want to leave it all, we dislike restrictions, we think how dare anyone boss me around?

and yet at the end of the day one stays right where one is..life isnt simple..its damn complicated…

me: Yes.. life is full of complications and well fabricated… if we touch one, the others will be affected… Everybody wants to be their own boss.. but very few achieves that

If only each one of us were fortunate enough to be in jobs we are passionate about.,…
even better if each one of us atleast knew about what it was that we wanted….

    me: true

    great story Kanagu 🙂

    me: Thanks Indyeah 🙂

If we do not get what we like, we must like what we do, I guess.
And why did he pop in a Mentos, I thought you were going to show something about how mentos helped him to keep his cool 🙂

kanagu: Yes we must.. but many a time we will fail in that 😦
he he he…. I am not at all thought about that.. actually after a smoke, people use to put a gum or mentos to keep their mouth fresh 🙂

  9. May 24, 2009 1:30 am

damn too good, Kanagu! i will give it a 10/10 !!!
i will talk about the technicalities of the story writing rather than the message which of course is a beautiful one! Be kind to customer care 🙂

i liked the usage of actions like him tucking his shirt out n needing to smoke like a typical angry, young man…n then after the calls -after realisation, he tucks it in, n pops in mentos !! (to douse the tobacco breath n also to cool him) Superb!!

the narration is smooth n at the end one gets a wonderful feeling for the protagonist in his realisation of ground reality n his chosen decision to disrespect himself if it means to not rock the boat or get married to his lover! the prevailing environment he is in influences him n the readers alike

    keep it up…do write more:)

kanagu: Thank you.. thank you Vinnie.. I am really happy 🙂
Its really nice to get recognized by the good story writer 🙂 And I will try to write more 🙂

Nice story Kanagu. I think a person should have some interest and passion about the job that he/she is doing, as Indeyah rightly mentioned. I have seen a lot of people who are passionate about their job in customer care and field support executive jobs – they love talking and helping others. In fact, someone shouts at you when he feel hopeless and want someone to listen to him. They learn how to handle such people and situations. Working in such positions to support a family or because of lack of any other job is not the right way to go, I think.

//Even my lover never scolded me like that// – I noticed this line 🙂

    kanagu: LOL 😆

    Destination Infinity

kanagu: yes DI.. but out of options people are in a job they don’t like, it happens… not everybody ready to love their job or got a job they love 🙂

  11. May 24, 2009 10:02 pm

lol… so back to the same old pavilion? 😀

    kanagu; LOL 😆 yes 🙂

  12. May 24, 2009 10:04 pm

  15. May 28, 2009 3:27 pm

Kanagu, You have said it so beautifully.. So many times, we don’t have too many options, do we.. All we can to is do our best.. Sometimes, we have to do a job, which might not be what we always wanted.. but it might still be better than nothing..

    Beautifully written, Kanagu!

A person has to do a lot of things which he detests but responsibility is such a b****, we have to take it head on!

Good perspective shown here, kanagu! 🙂
