Art of thinking about gift

As I have mentioned ealier in one of my post, the first marriage from my class(June 25, thursday) so it took some time to find what can we give as a gift… a lot of brainstroming went into that and decided to give a  photoframe and a useful thing on the basis of amount of money we get. So went ahead and decided to give photoframe by reception as we supposed that many will turn up on that day. So somebody has to take that… We are taking about this on Monday and I have been out of my home and will return only by Friday night. So I called up both Mr.BJ(working in hydrebad and returns to Chennai by Tuesday morning) and Mr.GN(in Chennai) and asked their suggestion. They said it’s fine to give photoframe and told that we can give refridgerator, washing machine or other… but its based on his requirement, non-availability and so we dropped that talk.

Mr.BJ enthusiastically said that he will take care of photo frame as he returns on Tuesday. He has to attend his cousin’s marriage by Tuesday evening but raised hopes by saying that there is no problem for him and he will give it to his friends nearby his home. So we are forced to trust him. All he required was mailing of photos which has Mr.SMN and our classmates(who is going to get married). And Mr.GN mailed it to him by Monday night. By Tuesday noon, I have got the message from Mr.BJ stating, “Call me, when you are free”. On seeing the message, I straight away called him(bother to ask what I could have done at that time 😛 ).

Me: Hi da, did you given the order for photoframe da??

Mr.BJ: No da…(now starts the reasoning)  my train got late and now I am travelling to another place to attend my cousin’s wedding..

Me: Grrrrr… ok then what can we do now??

Mr.BJ: Let’s ask Mr.GN… he can do..

Me: Will you call him and tell that???

Mr.BJ: No da… you call him… if I call I will make it in funnier sense…

Me: Then fine… I will call him and tell.. anyways you also call him and tell about that afterwards…

That ended our conversation.. Me, then called Mr.GN and said about that.. he said it’s too hot in outside da.. I will go by evening and get it… I can’t say anything now.. as he is our only flickering hope… only thing I could say is ok… and I said it.. 🙂

In between by 2, Mr.BJ has given a brilliant idea.. I will be back by tomo morning da.. then me and Mr.GN can go and get it… I said that let he go and check how much time it will take to do it…. he said ok…

Now when clock nearing 5, GN called me up..

Mr.GN: I went there da.. they said it will take 2 days.. so I returned back..

Me: (Shocked at the no. of days it will take and Mr.BJ’s suggestion of ordering it by morning) did you asked about possibility doing it in a day??

Mr.GN: No..

Me: (again shocked) did you asked how much it will cost??

Mr.GN: No da… When they said it will take 2 days I returned without a word..

Me: (without knowing how to appreciate his act 😉 ) ok da.. then you go there and say that we need it tomo evening, and also ask their price for it.. even if it costs some extra penny, we can pay that..

Mr.GN: ok da… what I have to say to them??

Me: (he searched and got 4 photos) you give the photos to them da.. and ask them to keep it in four corners and also angle them in best possible way so that it will look good.. then their names and marriage date with wishes from us at the bottom..blah.. blah.. blah…you just say this da.. they will do other things in photoshop..

Mr.GN: (Heard everything and Without a slightest idea of what I said) I am not able to understand anything da.. I will go up there and hand over the mobile to shop owner.. you explain it to him..

Me: ok fine..

He went back there and called me up and handed over the phone to him.. I explained it and he said ok.. then Mr.GN said they will give it by tomo evening da.. ‘Wow.. it’s good..’, I said.

But now the design is changed from 4 to 5 photos, with 4 at each corners and one at middle(Mr.SMN’s photo) and other things were same… and luckily it got ready by next evening and we have presented them the photo frame.

Now comes the second part of it… buying something useful.. We have money around 7K.. and also we have seen what they have got as gifts in marriage.. we haven’t seen a microwave oven.. so decided to go with it.. but many questioned it’s usability.. but we left with no choice.. yesterday we went to pick one… after seeing the oven(godrej brand) which they said about 7.5K, we went around to check whether we have missed any other thing while thinking about gift. There we go and have seen Digicam… then we remebered he didn’t have one since our 2nd year of college(he had one.. but somehow it got repaired). We have checked it up with one of his close friend. We know it will be helpful for him for sure, so we went ahead.

We have seen Canon powershot A470, but it’s not that good looking.. but the picture out of it was really good for a 7 MP camera and it costs 6.5K which is well within our budget.. and we bought it.. going to hand over it by Monday 🙂 Hope he likes it..
