The ‘Real’ Beast

March 1, 2010

I wanted to do this post the day I read about there are 1411 tigers left. But somehow it got delayed. But here I am going to share what I have in my mind.

First thing, I don’t think tigers or any other animal can survive with the kind of rate we are cutting down the trees and deforesting. Yes, this world is turning out to be hell for them and nothing will save them. Oh.. did I said that?? Sorry then. There are things that can be done to save them but nobody will do that. Nobody is going to listen to the things like the emission of CO2 should be reduced or cutting down of trees is really bad. And no nation will give up their developmental plans to save a silly thing called Earth in their proper mind. Do they??? What is it anyway?? Something that doesn’t make them bothers for sure.

Second thing, the biggest mistake done by god or happened out of evolution is creating an animal called man, with thinking ability. It can think wise also but what’s the use of it? Its thoughts are eviler that it thinks that the world is belonged to it. So what it had done?? Destroyed a lot of other species and keeps on doing it. Out of all the idiotic things it had done, one thing I can’t understand is how it claims that some other living thing as it’s property. Are the cows, goats or any other animal deserved or created to be tied down and keep giving milk to humans?? Is that their purpose on this Earth??

Another thing is Zoos. How one can devoid the freedom of the animals and lock them up there like some prisoners?? Are they born with a destiny to eat the dead meat and show themselves to the human visitors?? Don’t they deserve a better purpose than ending up in jail?? A zoo may be heaven(In most of the cases, its not)… but then none can replace the freedom to live in their way. If we have to see an animal we have to go its home, forest, to see it. Not by put them in cages. As they are not welcomed here in country, we also not welcomed there and should restrain from going there.

Our laws are really partial. It doesn’t value a life. It values whose life it is. A human’s life is considered as far more sacred than any other animal. But I don’t see any difference between any lives.

There is a documentary film called ‘The Cove’, I have seen last week. It talked about the slaughtering and capturing of the Dolphins in Japan. The slaughtering is done in one of the cruelest way by driving them to shores and then using sharp weapons to kill it. Before killing them, some dolphins are selected by the trainers for the organizations like Sea World(which is recently in the news for the death of its worker by a Whale) to make a show out of them and earn money.

I do not pity for the death of the loss of a worker for that company… but I pity for that trainer’s lost life. I can’t blame the whale for sure. Because it’s not its job to entertain human kind. It has born to explore the sea/Ocean, survive when it’s young and dominate when it’s stronger and again back to survival when it becomes old. But what these organizations like Sea World have the authority to capture them, train them in a environment totally alien to them and then making them to do stunts. Is there not any decent job available on Earth to earn that damn money???

There is a trainer called Ric O Barry who has started this kind of thing and he really feels about that now and shows every kind of action against the dolphin slaughtering and capturing. One thing he said really moved me. There is a flipper kind of dolphin which he trained suicides (yes it can control its breathing) itself due to the unbearable conditions. So is that not a crime??

We can’t classify an animal whether its a beast or its human by its looks. We can only do that by their behavior and I think many humans are beasts. There is difference between killing an animal for food and for other things which includes for fun, its skin, teeths, experiments, etc…. Because by the former only the world functioned and functions till now. And by the other its getting destroyed.

We have developed an environment on this Earth which is falsely believed as best for mankind, which makes the animals to scare and die. But surely like this animals, we, the social animal will become extinct from this mother Earth as soon as possible. And I am sure about it. I hope its gets delayed with our little sensible actions. Lets take some little actions like reducing the use of papers, re-using the plastics, reducing carbon emissions and in whatever things we can.

There is dialogue in Matrix said by agent Smith, a machine, which tells about our nature clearly:

I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

So starting from tiger I diverted, sorry, I didn’t touched that topic at all, here is a way we can show that we care for tigers. Just log into this site, Save our tigers. Join the roar and spread the word. You can get to know more about from AK’s post on this. Lets hope that something good happens for this one of the beautiful creature of Earth through this campaign.

PS: Me too did some cruel things to dragon fly, butterflies before considering them as a another worthy life during my childhood days. But not anymore.

Hats off to you Kanagu. That was tooooo good 🙂
Agree totally to you what you have written. Human beings really are a cancer of this planet. Worse than viruses. Multiply and then destroy everything.
They ask “why save tigers?”. Yeah right. Kill everything. Kill tigers, kill whales, kill fishes, kill camels, cut trees, kill everything. And do they think that they can survive all alone on this planet, after killing/destroying every living being?

    kanagu: Thanks AK… 🙂 🙂
we have consumed every kind of resource from the Earth without any conscience in a worst possible way 😡

A human life is considered far more sacred than an animal’s, a white person’s life more valuable than a black’s, and a man’s life more beneficial to society than a woman’s – these atrocities happen when we consider ourselves superior to others…

    Good post…

kanagu: Thanks Bones… and what you have said is right…

  3. March 1, 2010 9:03 am

I know it cant be this or that, but, do we really care as to how many children are dying every day of malnutrition.
May be, we should also worry about those children .

kanagu: I care for every life on this Earth Sir.. but the point is, how many we can save… there shouldn’t be any discrimination in a life…

  4. March 1, 2010 9:15 am

Our laws are really partial. It doesn’t value a life. It values whose life it is.
    😐 so true…

And yes u are so right… we are viruses upsetting the natural equilibrium of a place…

Beautifully written as always kanagu 🙂 loved it!

kanagu: Thanks Ash.. I wish they are not true… but they are not.. 😦 😦

Hey Buddy ! I too share the same grievaances that you share for tigers…. But please save some words of praise to human community for bringing up awareness that 1411 are left out.. We have experts in our country(who are growing in number without doubt). ;);););)

kanagu: Ok.. now tell me who is responsible for the reduction in the number of tigers here…??? if the answer is not human, I am ready to have more words to praise the human community…

  7. March 1, 2010 8:35 pm

I forgot to add this comment… Please remember, the info “1411 tigers are left out” didnt reach us from space or by magic…. It is those experts with Humane thoughts and growing awareness created by Experts in respective fields highlights the measures in place to protect them….. This for sure deserves some praise for “Humane thoughts”…

kanagu: As I have said, we are responsible for this situation and some were acting towards redemption but I don’t think this will work for sure… if we didn’t destroyed it means we didn’t have to do a save act here…

Friend ! Lets do our bit atleast by words here to spread this awareness along with Conservation efforts taken by Elite-group out there(who are also humans)…. I do mention this additionally as i am compelled by your words,

kanagu: Yes.. I do.. and what I am doing here… thats what the purpose of this post…
“the biggest mistake done by god or happened out of evolution is creating an animal called man, with thinking ability”…. Hope this is not true 😉 😉 😉

kanagu: I am afraid that its true…

  8. March 2, 2010 12:06 am

hope the tigers make it through!

    kanagu: Me too wish that!!!

  9. March 2, 2010 12:14 am

Hit the nail on the head – but will it have any effect on the viruses – the humans ????

Its a shame that we are considered to the creatures with the sixth sense. But we dont even have the kind sense.

That whale slaughtering thing is quite sad – how these humans assume that everything on this earth is theirs and kill and have fun.

Quite a sad scene – but really wish for great changes.

kanagu: I wish to see the change.. but I am sure its going from bad to worse only 😦 😦

This should serve as a wake up call for all of us. We should take action before it’s too late.

Exactly my thoughts.. The other day we saw in the news how a killer whale in Sea World killed it’s trainer. And I read loads of articles of how these huge mammals are constrained in tanks when they are meant to be swimming in the oceans.. of how it was just natural that the mammal reacted like this. I had seen this show and had enjoyed it. When I read, it filled me with such a deep sense of shame – so many things we do for enjoyment, without even thinking of what the poor animals must be going through..

kanagu: Me too seen this show in Chennai long back and enjoyed it without sparing a thought for the sea lions Smitha.. 😦 😦 I am ashamed of myself.. but from now on I am not going to Zoos or these animal shows.. whatever may be the thing….

Your post is so thought provoking, Kanagu..

    kanagu: Thanks Smitha…

  17. March 3, 2010 12:06 am

We are Viruses? *faint* But am sure there are millions of us who have good thoughts and do really think about the welfare of other living creatures on this planet. You are one of those sweet ones I know 🙂

kanagu: I hope so Sakshi.. and thanks for considering me as sweet one.. 😀 😀

I hate hate Zoos. It makes me feel so uneasy to see all the animals confined behind bars (not that I am one of those brave ones who happily roams in a jungle  )

    kanagu: LOL Sakshi 😆 😆

A thoughtful post and I am sure as long as there are good people left with great thoughts and a kind heart the EARTH is in safe hands 🙂

kanagu: Thanks Sakshi.. but I don’t see a future for human in earth for a long time 😦 😦

  18. March 3, 2010 2:09 pm

    the quote was awakening 🙂

“Before 2 years I always liked A.R.Rahman’s music and always wonder what Ilayaraja has done. But now I am mostly hearing Ilayaraja’s songs. But I have heard that when you get old, you will like more of Ilayaraja than A.R.Rahman ”

    Loved this,especially the smiley part… 🙂

    kanagu: Thanks Sister 🙂 🙂
