Nalandaway’s AAA – The tale of Haruk

July 25, 2010

After a gap of more than 15 years I have seen a stage play today. Thanks to Nalandaway foundation. Its a Korean musical – The tale of Haruk performed by 5 young people from South Korea. They are from the group TUIDA.

The play is a nice one and each one of the members have provided an impressive performance. The story line is simple and it goes as follows: An old man and woman were living in the mountains alone. Even after many prayers they are not blessed with a child. One day, the spirit of the tree blesses them with a kid but also says that they should give only the dew for him as food. The kid says only ‘HARUK’. All the communication happens only through HARUK. They name their kid as HARUK. They shower their love on him. As he grows up, he sees that his mom & dad were having rice and wants to eat that. After lot of resistance they give up and Haruk eats rice. From then he becomes hungrier and hungrier. Then he starts to eat humans. And he goes wild.

More than the story the way it is presented is so good. The music was generated from water canes, glass bottles and a kind of flute. Its so good to hear. And also it is well acted. Surely worth a watch. There are lot of kids came there and they enjoyed all the antics of the performers. Its entertaining for sure.

It was wonderfully organized by Nalandaway foundation. Thanks to them. Please click here to find the programmes lined up for tomorrow and coming week.
